About the Presenter
Michael Keck is a veteran Texas law enforcement professional with over 30 years of experience across law enforcement, criminal investigations, and police training. Beginning his career in 1985 with the Hunt County Sheriff's Department under the mentorship of Major Richard Hill, he later served from 1990 to 2017 with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) as a Senior District Parole Officer and Investigator with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG).
His investigative career centered on felony-level crimes, public corruption, death investigations, major employee misconduct, and fugitive apprehension within complex state agency environments. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from East Texas State University and credentials as a Master Peace Officer, TCOLE-certified instructor, Sex Assault and Family Violence Investigator, and Force Science Analyst.
He currently serves as a Coordinator and Adjunct Instructor at the Dallas College Law Enforcement Academy. Drawing on his extensive background with TDCJ-OIG, Michael shares professional perspectives from state-level criminal investigations and key takeaways for private investigators.

To Our Valued Members, Associates, and Distinguished Colleagues
Since 1983, the North Texas Private Investigators Association has served as a cornerstone for professional excellence, statutory compliance, and operational integrity within the Texas investigative community. As our industry evolves, so too must the organizational structures that support and advocate for our practitioners. Over the past ninety days, the Board of Directors and executive leadership have engaged in a thorough and deliberate initiative to revitalize, reorganize, and modernize our Association to ensure its long-term continuity, financial stability, and institutional strength.
Following a period of operational transition and digital inactivity, we have undertaken a comprehensive assessment of the Association's core priorities, administrative framework, and strategic direction. During this intensive ninety-day restructuring period, executive leadership and dedicated members have completed several significant organizational milestones:
Governance and Oversight: We have initiated a comprehensive Association-wide audit, conducted a meticulous examination of financial assets and obligations, and drafted targeted modifications to our Association Bylaws to strengthen administrative transparency.
Institutional Modernization: We have established specialized working committees, conducted special meetings with key stakeholders, and formulated a comprehensive strategic plan designed to guarantee uninterrupted operational continuity and enhanced board oversight.
Educational and Professional Programming: We have thoroughly evaluated our educational curriculum to ensure that all continuing education offerings presented under our credentialed Texas Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau status (School ID: Y00131) deliver immediate, high-value benefit to practicing investigators.
Membership Engagement and Outreach: We have re-established direct lines of communication with existing members, instituted new member recruitment initiatives, and launched new collaborative programs to foster active engagement across the North Texas region.
As part of this modernization initiative, we are re-establishing our digital presence through a newly reconstructed website. Please note that the website published today is presented in a temporary draft format. Over the coming months, visitors and members should anticipate ongoing adjustments, additions, deletions, and functional enhancements as additional features are systematically finalized and brought online.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I formally request the patience and continued support of our longstanding members, returning colleagues, and prospective applicants as we carry out these vital improvements. Every modification currently underway is being executed with a singular objective: to deliver a superior NTPIA experience, provide tangible value-added benefits, and safeguard the future of our professional association for years to come.
